Qualified Entities play a crucial role in EASA’s outsourcing strategy of certification and oversight tasks. The agency has developed a streamlined system for direct accreditation, offering a clear pathway for the initial application and continued oversight of Qualified Entities. This accreditation system provides greater flexibility and enables quicker responses to the evolving needs of EASA, National Competent Authorities, and Industry. Once accredited by EASA or a National Authority, the qualified entity’s status is mutually recognized across the board with no need for additional evaluations or technical requirements.
The accreditation process in a nutshell
- EASA will open calls for expression of interest – requesting interested entities to apply for their accreditation.
- The Agency will directly accredit Qualified Entities and issue accreditation certificates to successful applicants; each call will cover one or more categories of tasks that are part of that accreditation.
- Accredited Qualified Entities will be subjected to continued compliance verification and oversight.
- Outsourcing of certification tasks will be done in accordance with the established outsourcing criteria. The issuance of an accreditation certificate does not guarantee that EASA will outsource tasks to the entity.
