EASA delivered today a Type Certificate to Airbus for its A320neo. The American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) simultaneously delivered its Type Certificate for the A320neo. This means that the Airbus A320neo successfully completed a rigorous programme of certification which tested its airframe and systems well beyond their design limits to ensure the aircraft successfully meets highest safety standards set for Europe by the European Aviation Safety Agency. The A320neo is now cleared for its first deliveries and ready to enter into service. The certified aircraft is powered by Pratt & Whitney Pure Power PW1100G-JM engines.
