This technical assistance project is designed to support the Sub-Saharan Africa region to improve aviation safety. More specifically it aims at assisting African Member States to meet their obligations under the Chicago Convention in establishing an effective aviation safety oversight system. The project will adopt a regional approach to reach this specific objective and will closely work with the Sub-Saharan Regional Safety Oversight Organisations (RSOOs), the ICAO regional offices, and the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC).
The specific expected results are:
- Result 1: Reinforced RSOOs
- Result 2: Improved safety oversight regulatory environment
- Result 3: Enhanced safety oversight implementation
- Result 4: Implementation of safety data collection and analysis
The project builds on the support provided through the SIASA project (Support the Improvement of Aviation Safety) also funded by the European Commission and implemented between 2013 and 2015
