Hi,

The april 2020 Europe Air Sports newsletter announced that 3-axis microlight flight hours can be "used" to revalidate a LAPL or PPL, this following some EASA data. Did not found anything like that on the EASA website. Request EASA confirmation. Thanks !

And it does not matter in what language, as long as it is a spoken one. EASA Globbish is not to be understoodby 99% of the users.

And BTW German authorities do not implement this decsicion at this time.

My clear answer is: "No"
LAPL(A) and PPL(A) ...
Take a Close look at:
AMC1 FCL.140.A; FCL.140.S; FCL.740.A(b)(1)(ii) Recency and revalidation requirements ...
=> https://www.easa.europa.eu/sites/default/files/dfu/Annex%20I%20%E2%80%9…
... wherein two conditions, a) and b), ask for compliance.
Letter b) adresses "trainings flights WITH instructor" which we do in biannual "refresher Training". ... For this "letter e) aircraft (from Annex I of BR)" are not included in the list, and that has been done by purpose (as I learnt).

For me, unfortunately there is no space for doubts.

I believe that the hours flown in a microlight (annex 1 type E) aircraft can be used towards the recency requirements of an EASA PPL(A) or EASA LAPL(A) but the 1 hour with an instructor has to be done in a higher class aircraft ie: EASA Type or ANNEX 1 (anything other than type E aircraft) ???

It is NOT what we "BELIEVE"!
It's an AMC and not a law.
If an EASA member state is not willig to go into this direction
the pilots in this country are in a disadvantage. No, it's not this
Europe I was fighting for but that's the reality (see the comments from Jürgen Leukefeld and Thomas Dietrich)
"And BTW German authorities do not implement this decsicion at this time."

It's not "the pilots in this country", it's "pilots having their license issued by this country". One (amongst others) good thing with EASA is that you can choose your issuing authority without having to move from one country to another. It's a simple paperwork exercise. Choose a user friendly authority which doesn't gold plate regulations.

Does this mean hours on microlights (3-axis 450 kg) can count towards eg FI (LAPL) requirement of 200/150 PIC if the pilot is also a PPL holder?

No, microlight hours are credited only for the 12 hours needed for LAPL or PPL recency.

The reference in that AMC to FCL.140.A. points to LAPL recency requirements and the reference to FCL.740.A(b)(1)(ii) points to revalidation of single-pilot single-engine class ratings.

Also please note that, as Trevor notes above, the one-hour training flight cannot be on microlights.
