In the Annex IV — Part-ADR.OPS, AMC1 ADR.OPS.D.035(b) Aircraft parking is reported that "either a visual, an advanced visual docking guidance system or a marshaller(s) should be used to guide an aircraft during parking manoeuvers". This is confirmed in AMC3 ADR.OPS.D.035(b) Aircraft parking paragraph (a) " The procedure for marshalling services, established by the aerodrome operator, should require the provision of marshalling services where visual or advanced visual docking guidance systems do not exist or are unserviceable, or where guidance to aircraft parking is required to avoid a safety hazard".

So am understanding correctly that aircraft self parking (without marshaller instructions or VDGS) is not anymore allowed? As this practice is still in use in many EU airports.

I wouldn't agree with your concern.
As long as there is a docking guidance, the marshalling is set as an alternative prescription: or

To my understanding a yellow taxi line is also a visual means to guide an aircraft during parking manoeuvers. Of course when obstacles or other aircraft are in close proximity an advanced visual docking guidance system or a marshaller(s) should be used.

That’s the point Sjoerd. I agree that a yellow taxi line is a “visual aid for navigation”, as prescribed in “CS ADR-DSN.L.590 Aircraft stand marking”. However the phrase “a visual or an advanced visual docking guidance system” seems to refer to what is prescribed in “CS ADR-DSN.M.755 Visual docking guidance system” or “CS ADR-DSN.M.760 Advanced visual docking guidance system”, therefore a lead-in line is not considered as enough.
