Europees agentschap voor de veiligheid van de luchtvaart
Het Europees agentschap voor de veiligheid van de luchtvaart is de hoeksteen van de strategie voor luchtvaartveiligheid van de Europese Unie. Bevordering van de hoogste gemeenschappelijke normen voor veiligheid en milieubescherming in de burgerluchtvaart is zijn taakopdracht.
Een gemeenschappelijke strategie
Vliegen is momenteel een van de veiligste vormen van reizen. En aangezien het luchtverkeer blijft groeien, is er behoefte aan een gemeenschappelijk Europees initiatief om de veiligheid en duurzaamheid van het vliegverkeer te waarborgen. Het Agentschap werkt derhalve gemeenschappelijke veiligheids- en milieuvoorschriften op Europees niveau uit, terwijl de nationale instanties ook in de toekomst de meeste operationele taken -- zoals certificering van afzonderlijke vliegtuigen of verstrekking van pilotenvergunningen - blijven uitvoeren. Het volgt door middel van inspecties in de lidstaten nauwlettend de tenuitvoerlegging van de diverse normen en verstrekt de noodzakelijke technische expertise, opleiding en research. (read more...)
