Introduction
With the extension of the Agency’s responsibilities to rulemaking in the fields of air operations and pilot licensing as well as the oversight of Third Country Operators, the European Aviation Safety Agency enhances its position as the European point of reference in aviation safety.
The new EASA Basic Regulation 216/2008 was adopted by the European Parliament and the Council in February 2008, and entered into force on 8 April 2008. The Basic Regulation lays down the framework, criteria and objectives for EASA’s new responsibilities. The Agency consequently fills in the more technical detail by drafting the associated Implementing Rules (IRs), accompanied by Guidance Material (GM) and Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC).
This minisite intends to provide stakeholders with up-to-date information on the progress made in regards to the extension of scope. This includes in depth explanation on the individual NPAs, information on main events or deadlines and answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). For further questions, please access the Rulemaking enquiry form.
