“Sports Flying… Safely!” is a set of four instructional (methodological) films prepared by Light Aircraft Association of the Czech Republic in order to contribute to the safety of sport aviation and to the promotion of it. The film consist of four documents focused on flying with Ultra-light Aircraft, powered paragliding, paragliding and hang-gliding.
Feb 2012 – Aviation forecasts are important, and pilots must always expect to meet the forecast conditions.
However, a forecast only describes what is most likely to happen, and pilots must consider other possible outcomes. This leaflet should help pilots to recognise the approach of worsening weather before they fly into it.
The object is to carry out a feasibility study, an initial prototype design and a flight trial of an integrated FDM system for single engine light aeroplanes that in addition provides a flight data storage and retrieval capability. It will assist accident investigation and also permit the pilot / maintenance personnel to access flight information and be notified of operational exceedances.
Jan 2012 – This leaflet aims to provide tips to better use advanced technology for navigation in day VFR. Technological evolutions are intended among other to improve safety. This will only happen if they are properly integrated in pilot’s practices.
The use of SATNAV (GPS) is increasingly combined with additional features. The following points are covered: Become familiar with the equipment, Avoid being distracted in flight, Over confidence, overreliance, Interferences and jamming of the SATNAV signal, Installation, Keep your software and databases up-to-date, Learn from other users and how to use advanced navigation technology in flight.

Presentation on ESSI - General Aviation Safety (EGAST)
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has published its Annual Safety Review for 2010. The review includes a chapter covering the Light aircraft (aircraft below 2 250 kg MTOM). This analysis includes only accidents reported by EASA Member States and occurring in these States with aircraft whose MTOM is below 2 250 kg. State Flights are not included.
As in previous years, data on traffic for light aircraft was unavailable. The number of hours flown by light aeroplanes and helicopters is not recorded by the national aviation authorities in the great majority of the Member States. Data regarding gliders, balloons and aircraft like the so-called “homebuilt” are also not recorded, or are, in several States, entrusted to associative organizations and not retrieved by the authorities. An accurate estimate of flight hours or flights is needed to allow a meaningful analysis of data, in order to identify whether the variation in the number of accidents corresponds to a change in safety.
The Agency together with its Member States will continue its efforts to improve data collection for light aircraft in order to help the aviation community identify priority actions towards enhancing safety further.
