The knowledge of the flight characteristics on the back side of the power curve is essential to safe operations of an aircraft. The purpose of this sequence is to illustrate the behaviour of an aicraft in this part of the flight domain.
Why this subject? Because loss of control – inflight (LOC-I) is by far the prime cause of fatal accidents in general aviation, and because accidents more often occur during takeoff and approach, the phases in which manoeuvres are carried out at lower speeds.
