Past years have demonstrated that "Loss of Control" (LoC) is still a major contributor to aviation accidents, including large transport aircraft accidents.
A major Safety Conference "Staying in control" will be hosted by EASA in Cologne from Tuesday 04 to Wednesday 05 October. This Conference will enable the aviation community to meet and to share the most updated information related to this issue with highly knowledgeable aviation specialists in Aviation Safety from EASA, FAA, NASA, Industry and Investigation Boards.
It is clear that to address comprehensively the "Loss of Control" critical issue, a broad range of expertise needs to be gathered. Speakers, covering an impressive range of disciplines, including Human Factors, safety analysis, accident investigation, training, research, flight test and rulemaking, will present elements for an objective and complementary approach. It will include past and recent history of LoC occurrences, Human Factors considerations, new operational procedures and recommendations with on-going training programmes and methodology, the rulemaking activity and the most advanced research in these areas.
It is expected that this conference, combining the highest knowledge and expertise coming from worldwide specialists as well as from the attendees, will generate a significant step forward in the improvement of commercial Aviation Safety.
